After some great design advice from Nadya, I've done some redesigning. Here are the new logos.

Before someone points it out, I do realize I need to do some clean-up work inside the gear and above the M =)

*sniff* So I commented on this yesterday but I guess blogger was screwy. Anyways, here we go again.
I love it! I definitely think it's a big improvement and I love your letters! They look so much better! The merging of the N and M looks perfect now! Good job, Josh!
Btw I sent you and email with some references and the .pdf

101101- Thanks again for all the help. I'm much happier with the newer version. You give great advice. I got you email and thanks for that too. I'm hoping to be able to do a few different logo designs for people as things get going, so all the info and references will definitely be very helpful. *quivers with excitement*

You already pointed out the first thing I saw, the cleanup needed around the gear. It looks good in smaller sizes, but the size you have on your website distorts the letters a little. They look pixelated. Maybe try a thinner border around the letters, So you can't see the pixelation on it as well. Like I said it's only really noticeable on the larger image size you have loaded on your website.

The other thing I would say is about the name. From the logo it's obvious your combining design and motion. I like it! But the name of the website is "desigmotion." At first I was confused by the name making out what it was. I don't think that's something you want, confusion lol. I would try naming the website designmotion. That way when someone see's it they think of the name and then see how you combined them in your design. And not see the design and try and figure out what it says from that.

One other thing, is that nadya is right about the car thing. It reminds and makes me think of cars. You might want to look at maybe adding another adjoining gear, if the whole car thing isn't what you are going for. Another adjoining small gear might make it look more like a clock or something. I don't know if you want the car feel or not so if you don't disregard this entire part of the post and pretend I never spoke of it!

Fox,

Thanks for your input. I agree on the pixelation issue, the only problem is that I can quite figure out how to add a stroke to an object on Photoshop without having it pixelate that way. Hmmmmmmm.

I'm still not quite sure what to think on the name. I went with "desigmotion" because "designmotion" and "design-motion" as well as a bunch of other variations were taken. I'm not sure what to do if it's still confusing. I asked a fairly unintelligent person just to look at the logo to see what he thought and he got the idea and name right away, so who knows.

I think I'm just going to drop the gear all together for now. It seems that most the feedback I've gotten is all the same - looks car related. I definitely want to move away from and get out of cars as much as possible. Again, thanks for the input. It helps tremendously.
